QU says its new Kimado collection is a new interpretation of the outdoor lantern. Designed by Studio Makia designer Philip Adiutori, the collection combines “technical precision, formal purity and advanced research into light quality, creating a versatile lighting system tailored for contemporary outdoor architecture,” the Italian lighting brand says.
Crafted from turned aluminum, Kimado stands out for its refined construction and mechanical detailing. The fixture body can accommodate up to three light sources, installed in different positions to create customizable lighting effects, accents and illumination levels depending on the project requirements.

Each light source delivers up to 6 watts of power and is compatible with a honeycomb filter for glare control, ensuring both visual comfort and precise beam direction. The color temperature can be configured from 2000K to 4000K, giving designers complete flexibility — from warm, atmospheric lighting to neutral, functional illumination.
“One of the collection’s defining features is the ‘transparency’ effect created by the empty space within the lamp body,” the brand says. “This intentional void visually lightens the structure and transforms light into an architectural element.”
The Kimado family includes four outdoor lighting variants–suspension, bollard, post and wall–each sharing a cohesive and recognizable design language:
Kimado Bollard
The bollard is a minimalist and functional solution for pathway illumination. The lamp body is mounted on top of a bollard with matching diameter, reaching a total height of 60 cm. Its single downward-facing light source provides discreet and effective lighting for pathways, gardens, and outdoor circulation spaces.
Kimado Suspension
Designed for suspended installations, the suspension features dual light emission. The upper light source illuminates an internal bronze-finished reflector, producing a soft and diffused glow. The lower light source directs light downward and is available with narrow, medium, or wide optics to suit different lighting applications. Both light sources are compatible with honeycomb filters for enhanced glare control.
Kimado Paletto
Available with spike or screw installation, the Kimado Paletto features an offset lamp body that creates a lightweight and dynamic visual appearance. The primary downward light emission is ideal for highlighting vegetation and pathways. An optional secondary lower light source can also be integrated to create accent lighting and layered lighting effects.
Kimado Wall
The Kimado Wall is the most versatile version within the collection. Its mounting system compensates for wall misalignments up to ±10°, simplifying installation on uneven surfaces. The fixture supports multiple lighting configurations, including downward emission for ground illumination; upward emission for wall lighting effects; downward wall washer lighting. The internal reflector used in the suspension version can also be integrated to create diffused lighting within the fixture volume.
