Eighty-year-old Spanish lighting brand Faro Barcelona is entering the U.S. market with a wide range of lighting designs that blend style and energy efficiency for residential and hospitality spaces. The company will bring its collections to BDNY (Boutique Design New York), the trade fair and conference for the hospitality design industry. Héctor Serrano designed the collections.
The company is presenting Tierra, Aire y Mar, three collections that invites everyone to reconsider their relationship with the planet, the company says. “Designed and produced in Barcelona, the collection is rooted in two essential principles: the desire to democratize 3D printing for large-scale design, and the urgency of creating products that are truly sustainable and circular,” the brand adds.

“Each luminaire in the collection reflects a balance between advanced technology and material sincerity,” Faro says. “Rather than masking the traces of the 3D printing process, the pieces celebrate them. The grooves, irregularities, and matte finishes reveal a production method that is transparent and respectful-free of molds, coatings, or post-processing.”
The collection is inspired by earth, sea and air–”the elements that shape our planet”–and serves as both a functional solution and a statement of intent. “Nature does not generate waste,” the company says. “With Tierra, Aire y Mar, FARO reminds us that design can follow the same path.”
Here’s a breakdown of the collection:

Tierra
The line is 3D-printed using a bioplastic blend of PLA (a bioplastic of vegetable origin and cellulose, both biodegradable and plant-based. It features hive-like structures that reference pollination as the lifeblood of biodiversity. Its random, paper-like texture evokes terracotta and handmade surfaces, contrasting digital precision with craft-like warmth, the brand says. It uses an LED light source.

Mar
Made with a polypropylene composite sourced from 73 percent to 75 percent recycled fishing nets, Mar draws inspiration from sea urchins and marine forms. Its sea urchin-inspired forms link the object to its material origin, transforming ocean waste into durable, emotionally resonant design, the brand says. It uses an LED light source.

Aire
Constructed from 100 percent recycled PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol), the most widely recyclable plastic, the 3D-printed Aire features bubble-like volumes only achievable through additive manufacturing. The brand says the lightweight yet durable product illustrates the material’s potential for infinite reuse, both in concept and in function.
“Tierra, Aire y Mar challenges the conventional boundaries between mass production and craft, between technology and nature,” the brand says. “In doing so, it reflects FARO Barcelona’s evolving design philosophy: one where innovation is grounded in responsibility, and beauty is inseparable from impact.”
