Venice-based Italian furniture and lighting brand Miniforms has introduced a new lighting collection whose shade is primarily made from recycled polyethylene that is sourced from industrial and household waste.
The Rificolona family was designed by Tuscany-based architecture and design studio e-ggs and is focused on sustainability and functionality.
“Regardless of its size, Rificolona maintains a constant dialogue with its surroundings through the clarity of its body,” the brand says. “Entirely made of polyethylene, its transparent form is textured by small fragments of the same material, sprayed onto the surface to create a visual rhythm shaped by varying densities. Rificolona gently hovers above your living or public spaces, tilting as needed to suit the moment, the mood, or the light you desire.”

Creating a lightweight and translucent product, the recycled polyethylene material is first sorted by type to ensure purity (mono-polymer), then melted at a low temperature—never burned, the company explains. “This defines a low-impact, sustainable process using a material that can be remelted indefinitely: a truly circular approach.”
Rificolona, the brand says, was originally conceived as a ceiling lamp, equipped with a bespoke adjustable system. A small black sphere connects the two support cables: slide the sphere to adjust the lamp’s angle—from horizontal to vertical, or anywhere in between.
Available in a White Moon color, the light family comes in three sizes–19.6 inches by 9.6 inches, 31.4 inches by 15.7 inches and 47.2 inches by 23.6 inches. It’s also available in ceiling, floor and desk versions.
