Stûv, the Belgian fireplace brand that specializes in modern-designed hearth products, has announced the launch of the sP20-in–the company’s first pellet stove insert. The company says the release is a major innovation that fills a gap in the market, offering a modern, high-performance and environmentally responsible solution.
“The market for pellet inserts is very limited,” Jean-François Sidler, CEO of Stûv, says. “The sP20-in will open new horizons. It is possible to achieve results in terms of aesthetics, the pleasure of the flame and thermal comfort equivalent to a fireplace — with all the advantages of pellet fuel.”

Designed to complement the existing range of hearth products, the sP20-in responds to a clear demand from architects, specifiers and homeowners, the company says. Stûv says the product offers the elegance of a wall-integrated fireplace, with the benefits of pellet heating.

So what exactly is a pellet-burning hearth product? Unlike a traditional fireplace that burns wood, a pellet stove (or insert) burns compressed recycled sawdust and other wood waste pellets to create a source of heat wherever it is installed. The Environmental Protection Agency says pellet stoves typically burn cleaner and more efficiently than traditional hearth products. Most units burn with efficiency ratings between 80% to 90%. Also, because most units have an automated fuel feeding system, they are more convenient and easier to use than a traditional wood stove.
The brand says the sP20-in also is compatible with the Pellet Twin Set, a Stûv pellet bucket designed to match the aesthetic and ergonomics of this new insert. It’s also well suited to renovation projects because it “preserves the charm of a wood fire while offering a heating system that is elegant, high-performing and easy to use,” the company adds. The company’s pellet range includes the sP10 (model with a pivoting firebox), P20-S (freestanding), sP20-B (low version) and the sP20-in.
