Evolving from a company that made high-end wooden boats and yachts, Wiązów, Poland-based Unique Wood Design now produces luxury kitchen and bath products in a variety of domestic and exotic wood species.
“Unique Wood Design was founded in 2008 in Poland, born out of a passion for woodworking and a vision to bring craftsmanship into contemporary bathroom design,” says Leszek Kostyszak, co-founder and co-owner of Unique Wood Design. “Since then, the company has grown into a globally recognized name in luxury wooden bathtubs and sinks, combining traditional joinery with modern aesthetics.”
The company makes bathtubs, wash basins, bathroom walls, countertops and shower trays from such species as maple, ash, oak, sapele, padouk and walnut, but it also uses other species on request, depending on the design and environmental context, the company says.

Wood seems like an unlikely material for products that will be used around water, but the company says the material is universally loved and has a special relationship with humans. “Nowadays, perhaps more than ever, we feel this deep connection to wooden objects and appreciate their natural beauty,” the company says. “From a global perspective wood is the most ecological, sustainable material. In the 21st century we witness its true renaissance – as shown in the rapidly growing interest in wooden constructions, including skyscrapers – buildings that have record low carbon footprint.”
Unique Wood also says that its products are low maintenance and durable thanks to a DeepWood impregnation technology that completely seals the material. “Our products are engineered using proprietary impregnation techniques and multilayer protective coatings,” Kostyszak says. “These methods, combined with the use of naturally durable hardwoods, ensure exceptional resistance to moisture and long-term performance in bathrooms, spas and similar settings.”
The products can be exposed to water for as long as needed, require no special maintenance and offer “superior resistance” to limescale residue, the company adds.

In the early days, Unique Wood started with bathtubs made for private clients and small boutique hotels across Europe, but it has evolved, refining its technology and broadening its design language.
“While we remain rooted in traditional craftsmanship, we have shifted our focus toward high-end hospitality and international projects,” Kostyszak explains. “Our bathtubs and washbasins are now featured in luxury hotels and resorts worldwide, including several Nobu Hotels. We regularly collaborate with globally renowned architecture and interior design firms such as David Chipperfield Architects, Studio PCH and Studio Munge.”
The company also works directly with private clients who want distinctive, natural materials and bespoke solutions for bathrooms and wellness areas. Unique Wood has a distribution partnership with Hagan Flynn in West Hollywood, Calif., but customers may also order directly through the company’s website or via email. “We provide worldwide shipping and regularly collaborate with design teams abroad, offering support with customization, specifications, and installation logistics,” Kostyszak says.
