Kitchen Brand TM Italia Opens New Manhattan Showroom

By Nigel F. Maynard

Bespoke Italian kitchen brand TM Italia has opened its newest showroom and design center in New York’s Flatiron district, as the brand expands further into the U.S. market.

“As TM Italia continues to grow globally, we’re dedicated to expanding our reach by giving designers more opportunities to interact with our products, our team and draw inspiration from our showroom displays,” said TM Italia CEO Gianluca Tondi. “Our move to the Flatiron District follows the growing demand and market in NYC, offering designers, architects and more to visit and connect with us in a more centrally located neighborhood.”

Opened during this year’s NYCxDESIGN, the space features three original kitchen concepts that embody the best of the brand’s product range, showcasing Italian craftsmanship and innovation and reflecting TM Italia’s philosophy and history. The new showroom also will act as the headquarters for TM Italia USA.

The 1200-square-foot space displays the brand’s myriad offerings, styles and customizations. An entertaining kitchen welcomes visitors with an oversized island featuring raised technical controls. Guests then move past an intimate and modern wine storage room and an integrated work space that can be closed off to blend into the surrounding panels. The back of the showroom is anchored by a large family kitchen in contrasting tones of rich green and deep merlot, with a wood table extending the grand island. The handle-less, push-open drawers maintain the kitchen island’s refined marble aesthetic, while hidden storage conceals the brand’s extensive range of finishes, hardware, lighting and other customizations.

“As visitors loop back toward the showroom’s entrance, they encounter the fully functional urban chic kitchen, offering an authentic TM Italia experience and featuring Miele appliances, a built-in bar, a smart, expandable island designed with city living in mind, and a Water Academy display,

showcasing Italy’s finest waters,” the company says. “Tucked away adjacent to the fully functional kitchen, the showroom design incorporates a discreetly integrated office area, providing a dedicated and private workspace for the showroom personnel to manage operations and client interactions seamlessly.”

With a footprint in Los Angeles, Miami and New York, TM Italia says the United States has evolved into one of the brand’s most significant markets. The space, the company adds, is a direct reflection of the brand’s limitless design opportunities. “Each kitchen showcases attention to detail, the latest technology and stylistic trends, and an Italian eye for refinement and modernity,” it says “The beautiful shades of the Italian landscape and heritage serve as design inspiration for the showroom’s overall composition, and are integrated with the NYC urban atmosphere.”

TM Italia says the showroom is a journey of European craftsmanship, featuring lighting fixtures from Italian company TOOY, appliances from German-based manufacturer Miele, marble treasures of the Tuscan brand FiammettaV, the refined French cast iron pots from Le Creuset and the glassware of the Ichendorf Milan. “In addition to our European partners and their products, the showroom is also fitted with Italian cutlery, handmade dishes and kitchen tools,” the company adds.

Founded in 1951, TM Italia started as a carpentry workshop by brothers Giacomo and Gabriele Tondi. In 1991, the workshop was rebranded as TM Italia. Since 1998, the company has developed an innovative production system that allows unique pieces to be produced using state-of-the-art technology. A modern industrial ecosystem developed on a human scale permits combining the craftsmanship excellence of made in Italy with the production processes of a flexible industry.
