David Weeks Studio Unveils New Archer Pendant

By Nigel F. Maynard

David Weeks Studio has unveiled its latest creation, a chandelier-inspired pendant light that “fuses structural tension with graceful curvature.”

Debuting during 2025 NYCxDESIGN week, Archer draws from the poetry of traditional ironwork and channels industrial cues into twisted, turned, and disciplined resolved forms.

“Archer is a study in contrast,” says designer and founder David Weeks, “It pulls from so many visual references that have stuck with me over the years, from the stark geometry of New York City fire escapes to the sinuous scrolls of old-world French railings. There’s a rhythm and sense of suspense in those forms that I’ve always found compelling. The piece – which has slowly revealed itself through years of sketches, evolving ideas and toying with metalwork – is about distilling that language into something structural, functional, and quietly expressive.”

Crafted from flat aluminum stock, Archer keeps its light source hidden, using low-profile LED strips and conductive copper tape to cast even light from the top of the lower arches. Intended for entryways and lobbies, the fixture is available in two sizes – 98” and 55” – and hangs from a single cable, lending it a weightless, floating effect as three sweeping arms interlock into a central triangular hub.

The studio says the fixture was designed with accessibility and customization in mind. Functional and materially efficient, the collection is engineered for flat-packed shipping and simple assembly, with arms that snap into place using low profile fasteners and clip-on elements. In addition to a range of standard finishes, Archer is well-suited for custom colors, allowing designers and homeowners to tailor the piece to their space.

As the first in a forthcoming collection, ARCHER marks the beginning of a larger story for the studio. “This form has been in my mind for over a decade,” says Weeks. “It’s taken many paths, but now it’s unfolding into something much bigger. It’s exciting to finally share the first chapter.”

Founded in 1996, David Weeks Studio is a design practice that has built a reputation for contemporary design, including large-scale sculptural lighting pieces and high-level project collaborations. Its approach marries artistic sensibilities with technical precision, achieved by its talented team of designers, engineers and artisans. The studio is based in Brooklyn.
