Steel fabricator John Beck Steel has reintroduced its minimalist-inspired Drama Feeder.
Originally issued in 2013 and reintroduced in May 2026 after a manufacturing hiatus, the elevated feeder is again available for purchase.
Beck originally designed the feeder out of necessity for his own home because other feeders didn’t feel intentional for a well-designed home. “Everything felt temporary. Like it was made to be replaced,” says the principal of John Beck Steel, a steel lighting manufacturer located about 20 minutes east of St. Louis. “So I made one.”

The story behind the feeder is pretty simple, Beck explains. “We had a large Boxer named Drama — named after the HBO show Entourage character — and wanted an elevated feeder, but everything on the market looked cheap or like it belonged in someone’s grandmother’s kitchen. Being in the design and fabrication business, I decided to make one myself while sticking to my main design principle: less is more. Simple, functional, and attractive. That’s how the Drama Feeder was born.”
John Beck Steel discontinued feeder production because at the time his firm “didn’t have the production and in-house powder coating capabilities we have now.” But now the feeder is back and is available for purchase. Run 01 is limited to 100 units per size in this colorway. “Once a size is gone, it’s gone. The next drop will bring new colors in the same sizes.”

The minimalist elevated dog feeder is fabricated in ⅛-inch steel and given a powder-coated finish at the company’s factory. It comes with a porcelain-coated steel, dishwasher safe bowl and has non-slip rubber feet. Available in four colors–black, olive, terra cotta and putty–it also comes in four sizes: The small measures 8 inches tall, the medium measures 12 inches tall, the large measures 16 inches tall and the extra large measures 20 inches for big breeds.
Lead time for the feeders is seven to 10 days, and all products ship free to the continental United States.
