Design & Construction Week, which wrapped in February, is probably the single most important trade show in North America if you’re in the kitchen and bath design game or you build houses for a living.
That’s because the week is a co-located event that combines the National Association of Home Builders’ International Builders’ Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, which is owned by the National Kitchen and Bath Association.
Attendees go for the educational sessions, the parties and the networking opportunities, but the money is in the discovery–product discovery, that is. Construction Week is where product manufacturers unveil their newest products, technology and building systems because the event consistently draws tens of thousands of trade professionals. Show organizers say this year’s event in Orlando, Fla., achieved record-breaking success with an estimated attendance of almost 117,000 and more than 2,200 exhibitors.
To be fair, Construction Week has a lot of dogs (Read: mediocre products), but it also offers a wide variety of stars – cool and innovative products from well-known American brands as well as newly available companies from Europe, South America and China. Because of this, you get a smorgasbord of products that range from the frivolous to the functional and from the silly to the sensible.
Though Design Vibes did not attend this year’s edition, we had our “spies” doing reconnaissance, roaming the show floor to see which products were worth a second look.
This is what they told us:
