Plumbing giant Moen says The Hot Water Savings Handheld shower is designed to cut shower water usage by more than a third when the technology is activated, saving up to 5,500 gallons annually without compromising the shower experience.
“We’ve all had mornings where we turned on the cold shower and then lost track of time while waiting for the water to turn hot,” said Caroline Silva, senior category manager, custom showering, for the brand. “This is an unnecessary depletion of resources and a reminder of how our daily routines impact the environment. At Moen, we believe that comfort shouldn’t come at the expense of sustainability. Not only is this shower already warm when you step inside, it offers customized settings for a luxurious and personalized experience.”

The show is pretty simple to use, the company says: Before stepping into the shower, turn the shower handle to the “hot” position, then press the “CONSERVE” button to activate the technology. As the water warms up, the flow will automatically reduce to a trickle once it reaches 95°F. The showerhead will hold the temperature to keep the water warm without excess water usage. When ready to step into the shower, toggle back to “FLOW” to resume normal water flow. In addition to the water-saving innovation, the showerhead also meets EPA WaterSense standards.
The Hot Water Savings Handheld offers five spray settings and features Moen’s Magnetix technology—a magnetic dock that easily releases the handheld and securely snaps it back into place. The dock itself is made from recycled ocean plastic, “which adds another layer of sustainability to the shower routine,” Moen says.
The handheld shower is available in chrome, Moen’s Spot Resist brushed nickel and matte black finishes.
