Den Reissues Popular Modern Alpine Prefab Home

By Nigel F. Maynard

Den Outdoors, the Rhinecliff, N.Y.-based company that started in 2020 to offer affordable, tiny home plans, has reintroduced its Modern Alpine prefab home after a huge response from customers. It’s the brand’s second prefab model.

“We launched the Modern Alpine 2025 prefab to much fanfare back in March,” a marketing rep told us in an email. “The initial launch was well received, and we’re happy to say we sold out of the first 10 units offered quite quickly. Given the clear demand for a prefab version of this design, we thought it made sense to offer another run of 10.”

The reimagined Alpine prefab features a dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass gable wall that frames views and a thoughtfully planned interior that flows seamlessly from a welcoming entryway to a fully enclosed bedroom, contemporary kitchen and inviting living space. A new code-compliant staircase adds both safety and style.

Alpine measures 880 square feet and offers a lofted bedroom and a first floor bedroom. It also has a full kitchen and a full bath with a soaking tub. A large outdoor deck extends the indoor living, while a gas or wood hearth product adds warmth literally and figuratively. A mini split HVAC system provides heating and cooling. It’s able to sleep four, the company says.

The company says the Alpine Modern, as well as most of the brand’s offerings, is perfect for hospitality ventures or private retreats. Many of the built projects by the company’s customers are used as short term rental properties (found on the company’s Book a Stay page). But Den homes have other uses. “Frankly, we’re just excited to see people celebrating DEN’s designs,” the marketing rep says. “Whether that means leveraging your build as an STR property, or creating a full time, primary home out of your DEN, as long as they’re being enjoyed, we can sit back satisfied.”

Priced at $133,750 (minus taxes and other possible fees), the complete prefab package includes steel and closed cell foam panels, fully engineered and stamped plans, complete exterior window & door package, loft floor framing system and free shipping to any location in the lower 48 states.

Like many of the brand’s other house plan kits, the Modern Alpine prefab offers customers some flexibility to make minor changes. “These prefabs are pre-made panelized kits, so we have some wiggle room,” the marketing rep says. “We can customize the foundation style, interior floor plans and change skylights/exterior windows and doors. We’re generally not able to accommodate larger changes to the floor plans.”

“For folks looking to build a DEN who want a little more flexibility in their floor plans,” the rep continues, “we recommend customizing one of our Building Packages with us and working with a local contractor to build it.”
