KLAFS, the German manufacturer of luxury indoor saunas for hotels and wellness destinations, has expanded its portfolio offerings in the U.S. market with the brand’s first outdoor product.
The company, which was acquired by the Kohler Co. in 2023, says for nearly a century, it has built a reputation for German craftsmanship and sophisticated design.
“We empower individuals to pursue wellness as a way of life by designing products that transform self-care experiences at home, and help heal the mind and body,” says Bonnie Choruby, president of Kohler Luxury & Wellness Brands Group. “The innovative, premium, and thoughtful design of KLAFS saunas create purifying and therapeutic environments that invigorate the senses and promote deep relaxation, recovery and rejuvenation.”

The Taras outdoor sauna is crafted from sustainably sourced wood that the company says is carefully chosen to match the organic tones of botanicals, trees and flora, effortlessly blending in with the outdoors. The full glass front and back window bring the outside in, placing users in the center of their surroundings.
Taras features triple-pane glass, aluminum framing, nearly 8-inch-thick walls and premium mineral wool insulation to create a sauna that can withstand the elements. It has a Fero freestanding heater that blends timeless design with advanced features, resulting in a smart and compact build with protective wooden rails for added safety, the company says.
Additionally, the unit offers whisper-quiet operation and built-in steam basin. Dual temperature sensors and a touchscreen control panel ensure a consistent climate, while the dimmable backrest and under bench lighting illuminates the sauna cabin. Users can easily adjust the humidity and heat combinations in the sauna cabin with five preset climate experiences and create personalized treatments for any type of mood.

“KLAFS is an international market leader that shares our passion for innovation, design, and relentless pursuit of providing exceptional wellness products, services, and experiences,” Choruby said when Kohler entered into a definitive agreement to acquire KLAFS in 2023. “These new top-of-line saunas are wellness solutions that can enhance the level of self-care enjoyed at home and in wellness destinations.”
