Crescent Garden, an outdoor living products brand, has unveiled a new furniture collection that uses a plastic substitute derived from 100 percent waste.
InOu (pronounced “ee-noo”) is made from UBQ, a climate-positive, thermoplastic composite derived from household waste–including organics–that allows companies to create more sustainable products without extracting new resources from the planet.
“It was essential that we create a complete line of designer outdoor furniture that truly lives up to the sustainability expectations the market is beginning to demand,” said Paula Douer, vice president and cofounder of the Miami-based company. “Our InOu line is specifically designed to meet the elevated design aspirations of our customers and their desire to invest in products that are sustainable throughout their entire lifecycle.”

The company says InOu is modular, durable and influenced by European design principles. Modularity means customers can order and replace pieces of the collection as well as create designs and configurations that fit their space.
“The refined design of InOu modular outdoor furniture allows customers to grow and refashion the composition of their outdoor living spaces,” the company says. “Residential and commercial customers can select preconfigured furniture units or create furniture suited for their specific environment. The contemporary styling of InOu furniture is ultra-versatile and capable of withstanding intense heat, extreme cold, direct sunlight and the wear and tear of kids and pets, yet still maintaining its superb look.”
UBQ material, the company explains, comes from household waste diverted from landfills, removing and avoiding greenhouse gas emissions. The furniture doesn’t hold water, so it dries “super fast,” the company adds.

Four core InOu pieces can be assembled into dozens of custom configurations, including a loveseat, three-seater modular sofa, outdoor chaise lounge, outdoor sectional sofa and other arrangements that complement large backyards or small outdoor living spaces.
“Because InOu furniture is available in fabrics featuring a palette of four rich colors, furniture bodies in four color options and even legs available in three exquisite finishes, the design options are nearly limitless,” the company says. “Furniture components—legs, cushions, cushion covers—can be replaced, when necessary, waterproof outdoor pillows come standard, and cushion covers can be removed and machine washed.”
